Polish Wounded Warriors to Showcase the Healing Power of Sport

Poland will be the 18th nation to compete at Invictus Games Sydney 2018 presented by Jaguar Land Rover.

A team of 20 Polish wounded, injured and ill veteran and current servicemen and women will be welcomed to Sydney in October 2018 to showcase the healing power of sport. They will be joined by their supportive family and friends in celebration of the crucial role they play in the rehabilitation of their loved one.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Poland to Invictus Games Sydney 2018,” said Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Director of External Relations and Protocol, Rowan Martin.

“The Games provide the opportunity for the international wounded, injured and ill community to come together to recover using the healing power of sport. Their journeys may be individual but together they have all shown the resilience of the human spirit, together they are ‘unconquered’.

“For many of our wounded warriors and the family and friends who support them, their Invictus Games journey is just beginning and in October 2018 they will arrive at the Sydney Opera House to celebrate how far they’ve come,” said Martin.

“What a wonderful moment that will be for our international visitors, our Australian team and the family and friends who have shared their journey of rehabilitation,” he said.

In 2018, the Invictus Games will attract more than 500 competitors from 18 nations to compete in 11 adaptive sports. Sydney will also host around 1,000 family and friends who will be in the stands cheering.

Invictus Games Sydney 2018 will be held in Sydney from 20-27 October in 2018. The events will be staged across Greater Sydney, including Sydney Olympic Park and on and around Sydney Harbour, with the Opening Ceremony to be held at the Sydney Opera House.
