Friendly fire incident unites Dutch veterans

The Dutch captain at the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 had his legs amputated after a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan 10 years ago. His Dutch teammate here at the Invictus Games and good friend was involved in the tragic incident.

McGrath praises indoor rowers

The large vocal crowd provided a wonderful atmosphere for the indoor rowing competitors. Paralympic champion and #IG2018 ambassador Curtis McGrath was on hand to provide advice and support. 

The power of education at #IG2018

Students from several high schools tried adaptive sports, made and wore prosthetics and learnt about military personnel on The Power of Education day at Invictus Games Sydney 2018. These elements are part of the Outreach Program of legacy initiatives supported by #IG2018.

Ottobock workshop

Invictus Games Sydney 2018 competitors receive free servicing and repairs of their prosthetics, orthotics and wheelchairs at a custom-designed portable workshop at Sydney Olympic Park. Ottobock are the official technical services supplier and have been involved in every Invictus Games since its inception.

It was a big day out at the road cycling

David Travadon from Team France was picked up from the battlefield by his friend Cyril Dellatorre. When David raced in road cycling Cyril and his wife were there. It was an emotional and perfect result.

Sailing makes a grand Invictus Games debut in Sydney

Dual America’s Cup winning skipper James Spithill was on course supporting competitors for the sailing events on Sydney Harbour for Invictus Games Sydney 2018. The conditions and ‘stadium’ were supreme. 

Anna Meares OAM in awe of wounded warriors at #IG2018

#IG2018 Ambassador Anna Meares OAM takes her hat off to the #woundedwarriors who competed in road cycling at the Royal Botanic Gardens on Sunday. The Olympic cycling Icon admires the Invictus Games as a way to “connect and reconnect and provide that community that makes them feel safe to find a focus again,” said Meares.
